    • Well I like your site, so of course I will link to it 🙂
I’m so excited for you to hit 700kWh! Keeping my fingers crossed. . .

  1. Hi Bliss,
I love your work on the Sungevity blog! I am a rising senior in college, and I am trying to get a solar blog going…I was wondering how much time you spend working on the blog? I realize you probably do other social media stuff too, but I am mostly just trying to get an idea of the time commitment for keeping up a quality blog such as yours.
Feel free to reply here or email me, and any quick additional tips would be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much for you input, and keep up the great work!

  2. The possibility of putting solar over the Aqua duct makes so much (evaporation loss?) so why aren’t we doing it! Can any one talk to our leaders in government!
What solar on every school in California how many jobs could that create? Better yet build a %300 system and put back energy. Let the school system make money. Schools are open from 8 to 3pm the sun is up.
I would love to work this! Is there anybody else?

  3. Hi, just joined your Facebook and I’m also having solar panels installed in the summer sometime. Looks like a cool company. I’m a docent at the Academy of Sciences and we have a Climate Change interest group, is there anyone at Sungevity who will come over and give us presentation on the solar panel installation business? No rush, just curious.

  4. I am really excited about your products. How do I find out about getting your solar products into Uganda where we work with local Ugandans to rescue orphans, build schools and Medical Clinics and get sponsors to fund our needy children in school. We are all volunteers so every dime goes to the children.
Would someone please call me. 1-805-624-0807
    Thanks, Barbara Luke

  5. Sungevity,

I’m in Binghamton, NY; I tried your “get a quote” and got back a terse and pretty cold: “Not in your area.”

Hmm. Your web site says you are in NY; Sierra is touting you, and the NYT just ran a pretty glitzy article.

    So…where are you and when?

    Thanks,

    Stan Scobie, BInghamton, NY 13903

    • Hi Stan, thanks so much for requesting an iQuote! Sorry our response felt that way, please let me try again: First off, we are so happy that you’re looking into going solar! Unfortunately it looks like we don’t currently service your exact location, and we apologize. States are big places — so while we operate in a lot of NY, there are some jurisdictions and local utilities that we’re still working with to bring in solar. Unfortunately it seems like you’re in one of these. But there’s good news! We have your information now, so when we do turn on your area we’ll let you know. And I’ll follow up back here to see if there’s anything else I can do in the mean time.
      Thanks!
      Wyatt

  6. We have a house in north central Florida and wonder if you serve that area? I don’t know why but the ask for a quote page wouldn’t go beyond the first step — perhaps my address isn’t in your service area?

    • Hi Vincent! Sorry about that – we’re working on fixing that issue. Thanks for your note! Unfortunately we’re not in Florida yet, but there are a lot of people there that want to go solar in the Sunshine State, so we might be in the future. Try to request an “iQuote” once more – that way we’ll be able to contact you if we move into your area. Shine on!

  7. I recently read the article about Sungevity and David Kennedy in the NY Times Magazine. I am curious about Mr. Kennedy’s background as an activist, both environmental and human rights, turned eco-businessman. I am a recent law school graduate whose focus has been human rights and environmental issues, and I’ve recently returned to school for an LL.M in climate change. I was wondering if Mr. Kennedy might be willing to spare me a few minutes of his time to talk about his life path.

  8. I just learned you don’t service the “Sun Shine State”, does anyone else see the irony. I want to be first on the list of homes done in Florida, just a heads up, our electric co-op has it written into the by-laws, we are not allowed to generate or sell back KWH. Have you had previous experience with this sort of thing?
I have solar pannels to heat the pool water, and turn it off, the water gets too hot. I would love to have too much electric power and sell it back to the co-op…it sounds too good to be true, please make it happen and start to harnes the power in the “Sun Shine State”.

    • Hi Arthur! Thanks for your note — we are so glad you’re already heating your pool with sunshine. And you’re exactly right about selling electricity back; we install solar systems using “net metering” which means that you are given credit for any electricity you generate but don’t use. We would love to expand into Florida! If you want to be the first to hear about it, the best thing for you to do is request an ‘iQuote’ on http://www.sungevity.com. Then we’ll have your information and will be able to contact you. Shine on!

  9. Hi,

My son is a high school senior this year and conducting a senior project on solar energy. I was wondering if he could contact someone at Sungevity to see how he can get involve in some upcoming events and or schedule an interview. He is very interested and passionate about the use and innovation of solar energy and is in need of a mentor.

    Thanks, Tonya

  10. Hello Sungevity gang! I am a senior at San Francisco State University studying Environmental Studies. I also briefly worked with your company when I interned for the Sierra Club. I am actually doing a project for my sustainable urban planning class and I am extremely interested in using Sungevity as my case study. I must include the companies triple bottom line efforts and include how the company is promoting social equity in the US. I have discovered wonderful aspects about Sungevity through my research so far, however I am stuck in finding how this company promotes social equity to the US community. I was wondering if anyone could be of help to finding this information. I would really like to continue my case study with Sungevity. Thanks so much!
    Lauren Spalter

    • Hi Lauren, thanks for reaching out! We’re thrilled to be the subject of your case study, and we’ll reach out to you over email. Speak soon!

    • Hi Reuven, that sounds wonderful! The easiest way to see if Sungevity can provide solar for your needs is to request an iQuote from http://www.sungevity.com.

Let me know if I can help out any further, and thank you so much for reaching out! We’re excited about your solar farm.

    • Hi Joe, I’m sorry to hear that. Please call your project manager, or 866.786.4255 so we can figure out what is going on as soon as possible.

  11. A Blast from the past

could you please pass this onto Danny, thanks
hey danny, i was reading UTNE Reader or one of my E-activist emails and saw a book on solar and then your name after it and it didn’t register until later while i was riding my bike (i’m presently in Nam, viet) at a kite surfing beach called mui ne, i’ve come here during winter 7 out of the past 10 yrs, i moved to india 9 yrs ago and working with an NGO that teaches villigers how to farm organically and use less water…but our monsoon (late Oct to late Dec) is a bastard and i fly to mui ne most years, this year i had to go to Oz and hung out there until Jan… i’m actually taking a leave from india, don’t know for how long but will hang out in HI, Oz and Nam for the near future…great to hear your still doing great things…i looked up your bio to see if DK was DK and it said you went to St. Aloysius, i would go there a couple times a year and give talks on globalisation/social justice for CAA…did you ever hear me? anyway great that your still caring and carrying on…take care brother tlaloc

    • Hi Gaylord, that is strange! The best thing to do would be to give us a call (866.786.4255) and we’ll help you out. Thanks!

  12. Not happy at all with Sungevity installation. Trying to get some relief here but will be taking action soon to make sure no one else gets burned.

  13. In response, I am delighted to comment with atonement. i received a letter recently. I adjust to the incredible talent involved around solar and unity. (light sources) The balance involved with air is equality and strength, support and other supplements for happiness. Thank you!

  14. To the Vice President of Sales
    Sungevity

Following a meeting between Gordon Soderberg, program director for the Veterans Green Bus project, and Daisey Pistey-Lyhne of Sungevity, the Executive Board of United Peace Relief reviewed Sungevity’s Not-for-Profit participation program. The Board believes that Sungevity’s program is a very good fit to our Veterans Green Bus education program. Program Director Gordon Soderberg is on a western tour of the United States to demonstrate sustainable energy solutions for disaster response efforts. He is planning on being in the Bay Area in July and would like to stop by your offices to give you a hands on demonstration.

Some history about United Peace Relief and the Veterans Green Bus Project: The Veterans Green Bus Project, started after hurricane Katrina to provide veterans with sustainable energy solutions for their disaster response efforts. They used solar panels and a battery bank to power their satellite communications equipment for the first several months. This proved to be invaluable to the effort. Those solar panels are now being used to power the first net zero energy house in the state of Louisiana that they built on the Bayou Liberty for a local Dentist who donated his property for the Green Veterans volunteer camp.

The Veterans Green Bus is fueled by biodiesel and waste vegetable oil and can cross the country on a single fill up reducing the cost of transportation of tools supplies and volunteers by over 90%. Our goals are to demonstrate these solutions and put veterans on the front lines of the war on global climate change in association with Team Rubicon, FEMA, Conservation Corps, Veterans green Jobs and others. Since its’ inception, The Veterans Green Bus has wanted to use solar panels to provide power to the communications equipment and refrigeration for emergency medical supplies (Insulin) during disaster relief efforts.

Our past efforts include responding to hurricanes Katrina, Rita, Gustav, Ike, and Sandy. The Veterans Green Bus Team was featured on many news programs and during the 121212 concert for Sandy Relief. It was there that the Team was featured in a short documentary produced by the Robin Hood Foundation and introduced by Chelsea Clinton. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fexIv37H-Wc

Solar energy plus biodiesel are two of the ways we, as a board, want to educate people throughout the country about alternative energy for a sustainable future. What The veterans Green Bus provides to Sungevity, if an agreement can be reached, is access to the 15,000 members of The Veterans Green Bus network of veterans, exposure of your solar panels and your installation program on the current nationwide tour, plus many, many potential clients already investigating alternative energy.

Many of our veteran volunteers want to find meaningful work in green energy industry exposing them to your program and partners may facilitate your installation programs nation wide.

Our is a nationwide reach. We are confident that, given sufficient support, The Veterans Green Bus can be a valuable addition to Sungevity’s sales force.

We as a board have authorized Gordon to proceed.

    Berst.
